St George's Market

Image
St Geoge's Market is an indoor market in Belfast City Centre. It is the last indoor market in the city from the Victorian era. It is located near the East Bridge of the Lagan. The marker is host to over 300 local vendors and has a variety of foods, crafts and antiques available. St George's Market is a must-see tourist attraction in Belfast, and it is a great way to spend a Sunday. There are a lot of different cuisines and treats available in the market to try, and a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, including unique tropical fruits such as dragon fruits and physalis, which I have never tried until trying samples in the market! I would definitely recommend checking out St George's Market if you're in Belfast!

Some sculptures around Belfast

Image
Belfast has a history rich in sculptures, with many modern art sculptures scattered around the city. These include the Big Fish, The Beacon of Hope and the Spirit of Belfast. These sculptures add character to the city streets and are beautiful. The first sculpture I will blog about is the "Rise" sculpture. The Rise sculpture is a beautiful lit-up sphere located at the entrance to the city, and you can see it when you are driving into Belfast from the M1. The Rise sculpture, colloquially referred to sometimes as "The Balls on the Falls", is a symbol of strength and resilience. The sculpture stands tall in the city and can be often found on people's Instagram stories when they visit Belfast. I think the "Rise" is beautiful and resembles the sun as it brightens the city at night.  The "Big Fish" sculpture is located in Donegall Quay and is a 10-metre-long fish. This Big Fish is an iconic feature of the public art sculptures that are in Belfast

The most aesthetic street in Belfast?

Image
The Duke of York bar in Belfast is located in the bustling cultural centre of the Cathedral Quarter and could be one of Belfast's cutest and most aesthetic streets. This pub across two streets is a great spot for a night out! There is a great atmosphere with live music and a cosy setting. If you're hoping for an excellent traditional music session, this is the place to be! With the cute umbrellas, this place is the perfect place to put up on your Instagram story so everyone will know you're in Belfast.  This bar has a fantastic ambience and outstanding interior, giving cosy pub vibes. I'd say it does a good pint of Guinness (even though I don't really drink Guinness often, I've heard it is good). This is a perfect place to enjoy the music scene in Belfast and get a few pics for the gram as well!

Trip to Bangor, Co Down

Image
While getting used to a new life in Belfast (with a broken foot), my sister and I decided to take a day trip to the nearby seaside city of Bangor. Bangor is located in Co Down, approximately 20 minutes outside of Belfast, and is a city known for its marina and hills around the city.  Bangor is a great spot on a sunny day for beautiful views of the seaside marina and nearby mountainous landscapes outside the town, which would be an ideal location for a hike to enrich yourself in the beautiful natural landscapes and breathe in fresh sea air.  While in Bangor, checking out some of the local cafes felt essential. We decided to try 'The Bearded Goat', a cute brunch and coffee spot in the town and a short walk from the marina. The food and coffee here were amazing and kept me going all day. There was also a great atmosphere around the cafe; it must be a popular place for locals. I got a 'Ya Filthy Animal' an open sandwich that consisted of griddled sourdough, chipotle sauce,

First Blog Post  This Blog post is my first post on the blog ' Ailish's Adventures', where I will navigate my life in Belfast while completing my master's in Marketing and blogging about various tourist destinations around the region. My TikTok feed constantly recommends me,  to try out new restaurants, cafe and tourist destinations all around Belfast and other areas of Northern Ireland because it's a region of the country that is new to me. I will document my trips to different places around the region. The north coast consists of beautiful golden beaches and unique landscapes such as Helen's Bay and Giants Causeway.
